Added Touches

This bride's wedding color was a celedon green but had accents of amber orange. I added the simple scatter of amber colored accents all over the garter to incorporate both colors but not have too much amber.

"Sophia Keeper" - Cream lace, celedon satin accent, amber glass accents, celedon satin bow, sheer cream smaller bow with satin edge, signature SomethingBlue bow incorporated into the bow, swarovski crystal droplet $40

"Sophia Toss" - Cream lace, celedon satin accent, celedon satin bow, cream bow accent $15 ($10 with coordinating keeper)

Leopard Lauryn

Lauryn is Melissa's sister in law and the first referral (of many) I recieved from Mel. Lauryn has the most wonderfully fun personality and she loves leopard!!! When Lauryn and I starting chatting about her garter I had only made garters using lace as the base. I had enough time to experiment with how I to get the best looking garter using fabric and we were both very happy with the result!!! Her wedding colors were gold and black so we combined the colors with the leopard. I was able to see a photo of her dress when creating her garters so I got a good feel for her style and personality.

"Lauryn Keeper" (top) - leopard cotton fabric, gold satin accent, gold satin bow, black sheer bow with satin edge overlay $40

"Lauryn Toss" (bottom) - leopard cotton fabric, gold satin bow $15 ($10 with coordinating keeper)

Back to the Begining

The first garter I created was for a great friend, Nicole.

Her wedding was a simple, clean, and crisp event. It was outside and her colors mimicked the colors that surrounded us. Pale greens, cream, and brown. It was a small event and she decided to not do a garter toss so I created just a keeper for her. Since it was my first creation I hand sewed every stitch.

"Nicole" - Simple toss garter, cream lace, celedon ribbon, thin cream ribbon with thin brown accent, signature SomethingBlue ribbon incorporated into the bow. $35

My second creation was for my friend Ashly.

Ashly had a summer wedding with browns, creams, and beautiful yellow/orange calla lilies. I couldn't decide exactly what I wanted to make for Ashly so I made her an array to choose from.

"Ashly Keeper" - Cream lace, brown satin accent, red grosgrain with orange polka dot accent, sheer brown bow with cream polka dots, brown with orange bow accent, signature SomethingBlue ribbon incorporated into the bow $40

"Ashly Skirted Keeper" - cream lace, brown satin accent (sewn higher to create 'skirt'), sheer orange bow with satin edges, thin brown bow accent, signature SomethingBlue ribbon incorporated into bow $35

"Ashly Toss" - cream lace, brown grosgrain accent with cream polka dots, orange sheer bow with satin edges $15 ($10 with coordinating keeper)

"Ashly Thin Toss" - 1in. cream ribbon, brown satin accent, sheer orange accent with satin edge, sheer brown bow with cream polka dots $15 ($10 with coordinating keeper)

I Owe It To This Girl...

One of my favorite things about SBGarters is I get the chance to create a unique and special accessory for my girl friends to wear into the next steps of their lives.

My very good friend from college, Melissa, is one of my biggest "pushers". She is amazingly creative, creating custom cake toppers with Bling Divas, and often uses her business connections as an opportunity to let people know about SomethingBlueGarters. When she got married I had such a good time creating the perfect garters for her.
As you can see, I couldn't decide exactly what I wanted to make for her so I made three!!!
Melissa's Trio:
"Melissa Keeper with Rose" (top) - turquoise fabric, brown grosgrain ribbon with turquoise polka dots, cream rose accent with swarovski crystal center in aqua and clear, thin brown and turquoise accent $50
"Melissa Keeper" (middle) - turquoise fabric, brown grosgrain ribbon with turquoise polka dots, brown satin and sheer cream with satin edge bow, single clear swarovski crystal $40
"Melissa Toss" (bottom) - turquoise fabric with brown satin bow $15
($10 with coordinating keeper garter)

Back to the Basics

When I started this venture it was simply to create a unique gift for my girl friends. At some point it took on a life of it's own as friends asked me to make a set for them to give as a gift. Now it's become one of my favorite things to do.

I'll start with my personal favorite...it's a bit over the top but that's cause it was my own!!!

"Elizabeth Keeper" - Black lace, red satin accent, black rose with red and clear swarovski crystal center, black maribou accent, thin red and black with white polka dots accent, signature SomethingBlue bow incorporated into the flower $55

"Elizabeth Toss" - Black lace, red grosgrain with white polka dot accent, red sheer bow, red satin with white polka dots accent $15 ($10 with coordinating keeper)
